October 23, 2007 – Orca Interactive has announced that Colombian telco UNE-EPM Telecommunications has selected Orca’s RiGHTv middleware for its upcoming IPTV service.
The IPTV deployment will be carried out by Union Electrica, Orca’s partner and systems integrator in the project, and is expected to be available in major cities across Colombia in the first quarter of 2008.
“Pioneering telecommunications across Medellín and Colombia, UNE-EPM Telecommunications is now the first to introduce innovative IPTV services in the region,” said John Jairo Marin Lopez, VP Residential Segment for UNE-EPM Telecommunications. “Using Orca Interactive’s field-proven and commercially deployed IPTV platform together with a proven ecosystem of partners, we are poised to deliver cutting edge TV services to our subscribers.”

UNE-EPM Telecommunications is a public company owned by Empresas Publicas de Medellín (EPM) and is headquartered in the Colombian capital.
