He sees the world changing. He sees and lives side by side with the difficulties of the population. Manages outside Helio Costa, was also the first Vice-President of the Social Order Commission and was in charge of the election that approved its workers rights. Run for Minas Government and received over 3 million votes. he has been round over 700 local councils discussing local issues with the people, leaderships and counsellors. In 1999 he is elected MP once again and in these last four years he is appointed by DIAP (independent organisation that represents the syndicates) as one of the leaders of the Congress and one of the most present and influential MPs. Elected Senator in 2002, with 3,570,000 votes, Helio Costa continued his work in the Congress in defence of the state of Minas Gerais. Now, as Communications Minister, his main interests are the development of the industry, technological research and consumer protection. He supported the Brazilian scientific community in developing the Brazilian System of Digital Television (SBTVD), a process which included over 100 private and public schools, 1000 technicians, scientists and teachers. The SBTVD is a project that will make it easier for the whole population to access internet, telephony and free TV as well as developing the Brazilian Industry. |

Helio Costa was born in Barbacena, son of a taxi driver and a factory worker. He was the only one of their 5 children to go to University. Always worked to help support his family, he was a radio DJ at 15, and by the time he was 20 he arrives at
